He runs the local advertising agency YALLWANTADS and provides professional video production services for the University of Mississippi. Deeply connected to his local community, John also volunteers his creative services to area nonprofits, including the Oxford Food Pantry and Oxford Community Market.

His passion for preserving meaningful stories is reflected in his award-winning documentary Door Ajar, which tells the remarkable story of African American artist M.B. Mayfield, who learned art by observing classes through a partially open door at the University of Mississippi in 1949. The film won Best Mississippi Feature at the 2019 Oxford Film Festival.
